Thief in the Night

theif in the night

It comes a thief in the night

takes my beloved piece by piece

Leaves the fright

That will never cease.

We laugh and we cry

They are still there sometimes

and then I don’t know why

Don’t care if it rhymes.

It steals her away bit by bit

A memory here and there

I can tell when it

comes by her blank stare.

It came to our door way

and will do as it will please,

Day by broken hearted day,

This Alzheimer disease.

We have a dear friend caught in the spiral of Alzheimer’s. Sadly, she’s losing the battle, and will soon require constant nursing care.

I personally think it is the worst disease a person can get. It is so hard to let go of the person as they slowly fade away but leave themselves here.
