It’s arts and crafts Saturday!

Love the suncatchers and our Otter’s new wall paper!!

Lucky Otters Haven

When I’m not blogging (which takes up most of my spare time these days) or reading, I make suncatchers from stones, pieces of colored glass and agate, buttons, small mirrors, jewel tone tiles, and other small objects.

Last spring a neighbor was throwing away a glass window hanging that had been painted to resemble stained glass but the design had worn off. I rescued it and used some of the same materials I use on my suncatchers to make a unique window hanging. I’d forgotten about it, but was cleaning my house today and found it stashed behind some boxes. I’d wanted to get some photos of it with the sun behind it, but the standing lamp in my bedroom served just fine.

Here are a few pictures I took. I’ll be selling some of my suncatchers this spring and summer at a nearby resort (I have to meet with…

The Most Compassionate People

A sensitive person never betrays a friend and is wounded to the heart by betrayal.

Positive Outlooks Blog

Sensitive people are the most genuine and honest people you will ever meet. There is nothing they won’t tell you about themselves if they trust your kindness. However, the moment you betray them, reject them or devalue them, they will end the friendship. They live with guilt and constant pain over unresolved situations and misunderstandings. They are tortured souls that are not able to live with hatred or being hated. This type of person needs the most love anyone can give them because their soul has been constantly bruised by others. However, despite the tragedy of what they have to go through in life, they remain the most compassionate people worth knowing and the ones that often become activists for the broken-hearted, forgotten and the misunderstood. They are angels with broken wings that only fly when loved. — Shannon L. Alder

Notes from an old dog with love

Photo by Gale A. Molinari of Mama Lucy and her little charge Leo
Mama Lucy passed away September 12, 2011
She was 15 years old. This is being posted for a friend that just lost her wonderful companion.

It has been wonderful being with you

taking care of the young ones

playing zoomies when I was a puppy myself,

but it is time to say goodbye.

We don’t have to stay as long,

There are no questions for us things just are.

I love you and will always be with you

love me enough to say good bye.

We don’t get the same Earth time as we go before

to make a place

for you in the sparkling meadow.

It isn’t forever you know.

My hearing is gone, so is my eyesight,

My old joints hurt too.

But the love I have will last forever

So let me go to be young again.

I will be there when it is your time.

A question of immortality.

Should we live our lives to please someone else or should we spend our time on Earth being the best we can be? It seems to me that to live a life in fear of a life after this one is really wasting your time here. If a next world exists should it not honor what is honorable here? If we follow the dictates of someone instead of our own hearts do we not denigrate that which we are?

I see so many things today done in the name of religion. To be honest I am completely baffled. All religions that are really legitimate never condone murder or defamation of other people. How is it then that massacres are happening daily in the name of religion?

Most Terrorism is done in the name of religion. That other guy isn’t believing how I do so I need to wipe him off…

The DRESS that broke the Internet

Why does anyone even care???

Late on Thursday night and early Friday morning, Twitter and Facebook feeds across the world had only one question on their mind: Is this dress white and gold or is it black and blue.

The dress in question. The original image is in the middle. At left, is the image, which shows the dress as white and gold and the one on the extreme right shows it as blue and black

The dress, made by clothing company Roman Originals, is in fact black and blue.

The science behind the reason why some people see black on blue while others see gold on white is that the picture is an optical illusion.
