My support of free speech

I may not agree with what you say but I do support your right to say it.

I may not agree with what you say but I do support your right to say it.

I support free speech even defamation and lies. Why? Well who is to define it? I think all free people need to accept peoples right to say what they want to. I also think it is their responsibility to question what is said. Anyone can say anything. The truth is another matter. The source should also be considered. When free speech is used as a weapon against those people we don’t like it is wrong. Speaking out against someone in a provocative, defamatory way is also wrong.

Intelligent people use this right to portray truth. The others just use it to spew nonsense.

Absolutely as long as it is the truth.

I support free speech but I absolutely agree with the laws against defamation of character, slander and misleading claims by companies advertising a product. These laws limit free speech but help protect people. I would say such speech should be allowed because, as you said, who defines what is o.k. and what is not – but in these cases, the truth is easy enough to prove. If a company claims their pill cures blindness – this can be proven to be false. As for defamation of character and slander, these are easy enough to show that someone is deliberately trying to ruin the name of a person by publicly sharing incorrect information with the intent to make the person look bad. Other than these instances, I support everyone’s right to free speech, even if I do not agree with their point of view.

I even support free speech when my stalker Abbe Lee Noble, aka Free Speaker uses my posts to attack me. I suggest though that she consider carefully her use of that right. Defamation is prosecutable.
